Venice was truly amazing to see and to wander, but what made me fall in love with this floating city, was the Island of Burano. The island of Burano is known for its amazing handmade lace and its brightly coloured houses. It’s said that the houses were painted bright so that the fishermen could find their way home, even in dense fog.

Ramsey and I caught the Vaporetto to island of Burano, it took about an hour and we made a stop at the island of Murano to walk around looking at the beautiful handblown glass and eat some amazing Gelato! When we arrived at Burano it was just after 5pm and everyone was leaving the island. Most of the shops were closed and the restaurants weren’t open for dinner yet, so the entire island was quiet and calm, which was such a welcome break from the packed streets of Venice. As we wandered through the amazing streets and past the brightly coloured houses, we dreamed of what our lives could be if we sold all our things and moved to this perfect island.

We stopped to have dinner at Restaurant Galuppi, it was amazing. I think we hit cloud 9 and we ate as the sun slowly started to set. After dinner we walked around the island once more catching the beautiful warm light from the sunset bouncing of the brightly coloured houses. As we boarded back onto the Vaporetto, I felt like we were leaving a piece of ourselves there.

As the sun slowly faded below the water, I already started to dream about the next time we would be back and come to visit this perfect little island.
